What to Expect

Consultation

  • An examination is performed to determine if endodontic treatment is needed or if there are any special treatment considerations.  We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. 
  • Please do not take any pain medication before a consultation appointment because they can interfere with diagnostic tests
  • Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes and other conditions as recommended by your physician for all your appointments.

     

Before your appointment

  • Please bring your referral form to your appointment
  • Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Endodontic therapy is usually completed in one or two appointments  Each appointment is approximately 1- 2 hours duration 
  • Please give us 48 hours notice if you unable to keep your appointment

After your appointment

  • You must schedule an appointment with your general dentist ASAP after completion of your root canal.  You will need to avoid chewing on the tooth until you see your general dentist.  Your treatment is not complete until your dentist has placed a permanent restoration.
  • Patients usually only experience minor discomfort following endodontic procedures.  Please do not be worried.  This discomfort is a normal reaction and will not affect the outcome of your treatment.  We usually recommend taking whatever you would normally take for a headache.  If the doctor feels it is necessary he/she may prescibe you additional medications. 
  • If you experience pain that keeps you up at night or swelling please call the office if it is during normal business hours.  After hours, the doctors will be available for emergencies.  You can reach them on their emergency contact phone number that will be given to you the day of treatment.

 

Fees

The fee for your endodontic treatment will be based on the extent of treatment. During your first visit, we will discuss the probable number of visits, their length, and the fees involved.  It is our policy that your care is paid for at the time of treatment.  For your convenience, we accept most major credit cards, CareCredit and personal checks.
